I spent several months digging into research in the Fall of 2022, before finally beginning to set up interviews in January 2023, with 4+min stories on a new topic airing twice weekly beginning in April. While I had hoped to do more with this series, this project will end with 12 packages with accompanying in-depth web articles due to the dissolve of our local newsroom. |

In the Fall of 2022, I took part in the Sioux City Police Department Citizen Academy, where everyday people get put through the training of a police officer.
Participating in this 11-week course gave me a new respect for law enforcement, and a better understanding of why they make the choices they do.
