A look at how the Sioux City Metro compares to other metros in the fight against COVID-19
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — In mid-April, Sioux City, Iowa topped a New York Times list for metro areas with the fastest-growing number of COVID-19 cases. This alarming statistic made rounds on social media as positive cases of the new coronavirus continued to rise in Siouxland.
Woodbury County, Iowa was one of the state's hottest spots for confirmed cases.
Neighboring Dakota County, Nebraska has the same top ranking when compared to other Nebraska counties.
I wanted to see how the Sioux City Metro area compares to other metro area communities of similar size. With the help of my colleague, Meteorologist Vivian Rennie, we dug through the data and compared the Sioux City Metro to other metro areas of similar make-up to see how Siouxland stacked up.
